Crikvenica
Crikvenica is situated in the Kvarner bay of the Adriatic Sea, at a distance of 33 km from Rijeka, a major road and railway junction at the centre of the district of Primorje and Gorski kotar, also home to Crikvenica.
The entire town of Crikvenica is in fact a Riviera with a row of almost connected small tourist resorts: Selce, Crikvenica, Dramalj and Jadranovo. The town spreads about 28 square kilometres in the coastal zone, which is about 15 km long and about 2 km wide, and is situated between the sea and the elongated littoral reef at an average height of about 300 m above sea level.
The nearby airport on the island Krk, the passenger and the cargo sea ports in Rijeka, as well as a good road and railway connection with Central Europe have contributed to the early development of tourism which has in the region of the present Riviera of Crikvenica a tradition of more than one hundred years.
Dramalj
Dramalj is a well-known tourist resort close to Crikvenica, extending from Crni mol (a quarter in the city of Crikvenica) to the tourist complex Kačjak. There are approximately 1400 inhabitants, most of which are engaged in tourism and catering industry.
A more intensive development of the village started back in the 19th century, following the development of tourism in the nearby Crikvenica area. It is due to the most favorable climatic and geographical conditions as well as the vicinity of Rijeka and Opatija that tourists, mountaineers and hunters started visiting Croatian Littoral, particularly Crikvenica and Novi Vinodolski on a larger scale in the second half of the past century.
Nowadays, Dramalj has been a prominently tourist resort with numerous private villas, newly built houses and suites, vacation resorts and fairly quality range of hotel offer (hotel Rivijera). Tourist complex Kačjak, named after the peninsula where it is located, offers bungalows and pavilions with total capacity of 500 guests as well as sport and recreational center equipped with all sport playgrounds, disco club, and a restaurant with a beautiful view to island Krk.
In Dramalj, there are several quality restaurants offering local specialties, as well as post office and a clinic providing medical assistance for tourists. Culture Hall is also located there and it is particularly important during winter when traditional carnival feasts are held.
